Purpose of Post:

CIW is the independent regulator of social care and childcare. We register, inspect and take action to improve the quality and safety of services for the well-being of the people of Wales. The vulnerable people of Wales are at the heart of everything we do, and this is your chance to use your communication skills in a way that can really make a difference.

Reporting to the Team Manager Communication and Engagement, the main focus of this post will be to manage CIW content across web based digital channels including managing the flow of content from across CIW and publishing to our public facing website and CIW intranet.

This post will help to shape and drive our website and intranet content strategy, providing editorial judgement and constructive feedback to content originators. Ensuring that content is engaging, accessible and usable for our audience, you will identify and help produce new content (including various types of media) and ensure that decisions we make are based on our user needs. You will also be required to monitor and report on website and intranet visitor behaviour, and strive to improve our intranet and website user experience.

A highly creative and persuasive writer, you will on occasion support the PR function, writing news items, campaign and publication content.

A confident communicator, you will need to be comfortable liaising with web developers, and other teams to develop the intranet and website in line with business priorities.

Key tasks:

Manage content, image and tone of CIW website (Internet and Intranet). Working alongside the Engagement Manager and ensuring cross-team working to convey clear, consistent messages across digital channels.

Manage the flow of content from across CIW through to publishing, including editorial review to ensure adherence to the Welsh Government and CIW style guide and accessibility and Quality standards.

Evaluate the effectiveness of the website, including navigation and accessibility, user-friendliness, and reporting and analysing web and digital statistics to inform future improvements. You will identify and help produce new content (including various types of media) and ensure that decisions we make are based on our user needs.

Draft engaging content in all formats including occasional support of the PR function, including drafting news items, and collaborating to produce publications. providing editorial judgement and constructive feedback to content originators.

Work with Engagement Manager to continually develop and improve areas for internal staff/customer engagement. You will also be required to monitor and report on website and intranet visitor behaviour, and relentlessly strive to improve our intranet and website user experience

Provide professional advice and assistance on web communication for CIW, including advice and guidance to content editors on the technical use of the website Content Management System and the formatting information for consistency, accessibility and visual presentation.

Develop a close working relationship with the Welsh Government central web team, and CIW digital team to progress and develop website integration further and best practice across Welsh Government digital services.

Managing own professional development and seeking appropriate opportunities in discussion with the Team Manager Communication and Engagement.

Job Specific Criteria

1. Ability to demonstrate skills and knowledge in relation to web and intranet content delivery, including publishing web content using software e.g. Drupal

3. Ability to demonstrate experience in content creation across a range of styles and formats (e.g. content for web pages, campaign materials, and social media platforms.)
