Purpose of Post:

We are keen to utilise the expertise of staff across the Civil Service to make a practical, positive impact during these unprecedented times. We are looking for candidates who have a range of experience within the policy profession and a desire to develop their skills within this field of work.

The Executive Officer pay band is typically the first level with people management responsibilities. The management role may include organising workloads, monitoring work flow, performance management, training and development, mentoring and coaching.

We are looking for a diverse range of civil servants to work in a variety of exciting policy roles at EO grade across Welsh Government.

The posts will require knowledge, skills and experiences across the broad range of the EO grade characteristics, but job roles will differ.

The roles available could be across all Groups within Welsh Government but currently we are looking to fill roles within building safety and the area within Post-EU work. Further information can be found on building safety work on the attachments below. This is a unique opportunity to support a critical and emerging area of policy work. Successful candidates will be matched into priority posts. Key tasks:

  • You will invest time in your own development, acting as a role model and supporting the development of others. Providing opportunities and encouragement for individuals to develop, sharing your knowledge and experience
  • You will manage/supervise, develop, motivate and support diverse group of staff and colleagues, making best use of staff and other resources. Actively support and include all staff and colleagues, treating them fairly and respecting everyone as individuals.

  • You will establish professional relationships with a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders and customers in order to achieve results.
  • You will communicate effectively both orally and in writing, using  appropriate  communication channels.

  • The inward loan opportunities are only open to current Civil Servants (on a loan only basis).
  • Roles are available for either short-term opportunities (6-12 months) or longer term opportunities (up to a maximum of 2 years).
  • You are not expected to gain a permanent transfer across to the Welsh Government.
  • All roles are available at substantive grade and lateral transfer only.
  • Temporary promotion or permanent promotion opportunities are not available through this opportunity, however, many of the roles will offer the opportunity to gain valuable experience, broaden networks and learn new skills.
