Purpose of Post:

To assist in the management of concerns and regulatory notifications received about health care services in Wales

To work as part of the team supporting investigations of deaths in custody

Key tasks:

Key tasks Post-specific tasks

  • To provide support in considering concerns brought to HIW about healthcare organisations and services against the procedures set by HIW, and make recommendations to the inspection manager on how to proceed.
  • To manage a small caseload of concerns about healthcare organisations.
  • To administer and manage HIW’s notifications processes including concerns, and regulatory notifications.
  • To assist in the delivery of reviews when required, and undertake preliminary analysis, and in line with HIW procedures, protocols and standards.
  • To be a key operational link with the Prison and Probation Ombudsman for Death in Custody investigations.
  • To assist in the development of recommendations for improvement.
  • To support HIW’s risk assessment processes in relation to the organisations it inspects and regulates.

  • To work collaboratively with colleagues throughout HIW.
  • To take part in the corporate activities of HIW.
  • To manage their own continuing professional development and the development of their team members.

Development opportunities:

This post is part of the Healthcare Inspectors Profession. You will be expected to devise, maintain and follow an appropriate professional development plan and to undertake training mandated by HIW.
