Purpose of Post:

CSSIW is the independent regulator of social care and childcare. CSSIW registers, inspects and takes action to improve the quality and safety of services for the well-being of the people of Wales.

 

Reporting to the Head of Support Services this post will lead on developing and maintaining arrangements that ensure the active engagement of citizens and stakeholders in the development and delivery of CSSIW accountabilities.

Key tasks:

Establish and deliver an integrated strategy for communications and engagement for CSSIW including a forward plan of activities and events that engages citizens, service users and other stakeholders and provides them with the information and opportunities they need to contribute to the improvement of care and social services in Wales.

 

Provide relevant and timely information to citizens and other stakeholders through the development and implementation of appropriate means, including:

  • Website and digital communications (inc. social media and video production)
  • Newsletters
  • Publications incl. the Annual Report
  • Events
  • Media interaction

 

Lead in providing communication advice and support to the Chief Inspector and Assistant Chief Inspectors and staff where necessary, ensuring they have timely and effective communications when dealing with media issues, external events and stakeholder engagement.

 

Lead in providing communication advice and support to senior managers on a number of CSSIW projects and produce strong and effective communication plans to reflect this important work for the organisation.

 

Deliver an internal communication strategy for CSSIW encompassing appropriate means, systems and protocols so that all staff have the information they need to do their job, engage and contribute to CSSIW and the wider Welsh Government agendas.

 

Lead and manage a team of four staff (2 MB2s, 1 MB3 and 1 TSO) using the Welsh Government’s performance management system to enable them to realise their potential, deliver high quality services and continually improve.

 

As a member of the Communications Profession – ensure that CSSIW strategies are aligned to other communications activities and to contribute to the wider Welsh Government agenda, linking in with Central Communications where possible.

Job Specific Criteria

Ability to demonstrate experience in delivering communication and engagement activities involving a broad range of stakeholders.

Proven record of delivering multi-discipline campaigns across a broad range of channels, including digital.

Ability to demonstrate a range   of wider communications skills including experience of at least two of the following   areas – communication planning, evaluation, social media, video and managing   the production of publications.
