Purpose of Post:

Reporting to the Marketing, Communications and Partnership Lead, the Marketing and Communications Manager will be the overall lead for marketing and communications activities for Creative Wales and other sub brands such as Wales Screen.

This role will ensure that there is a consistent approach to the Creative Wales marketing programme, and will be responsible for the strength and visibility of the Creative Wales brand in Wales and internationally.

Working alongside the Ministerial Press Office and other Welsh Government marketing teams, including with International Relations and Trade and Inward Investment, a key focus of this role will be on delivering results that contribute to the delivery of the Creative Wales strategy and aims. 

The Marketing and Communications Manager will also be responsible for contributing the overall brand strategy and implementing the result in action plans for digital, website, and social media for Creative Wales. 

The main objectives of the post will be:

  • Plan and deliver a forward look marketing and communications programme; 
  • Proactively exploit PR opportunities as they arise to position Wales as a key location for Creative Industries;
  • Work closely with the wider marketing and communications teams in Culture, Sport and Tourism and across Welsh Government to provide an effective and joined up function;
  • Ensure that Creative Wales is well placed to take advantage of new digital marketing developments to best promote the Creative Wales brand and ensure that Creative Wales brand is instantly recognisable at home and overseas as the foremost creative industries organisation for Wales.

Key tasks:

  • Support the Marketing, Communications and Partnership lead in implementing the Creative Wales marketing strategy; 
  • Develop and apply a consistent approach for the use of the Creative Wales brand on all marketing and communications activities;
  • Liaise with other marketing and communications colleagues across Welsh Government to ensure a co-ordinated and consistent approach;
  • Monitor the investment made in marketing and communication activities relative to outcomes.  This data can be used to inform future marketing activities;
  • Manage budgets in relation to marketing activity.  Forecast, record and report on budget expenditure to ensure that costs are in line with financial approvals;
  • Secure necessary permissions for use of content from partner and stakeholder organisations;
  • Develop a marketing and comms programme that will generate leads that can be cultivated into projects;
  • Identify, develop and nurture relationships with key sector influencers;
  • Line manage the Website and Social Media Executive.

Development opportunities:

The successful candidate will be part of the marketing and communications team in Creative Wales, which will provide numerous opportunities to undertake high impact marcomms to raise the profile and perception of the creative industries in Wales. There will be considerable opportunities to work with key external stakeholders in the creative industries alongside significant Ministerial activity.  They will have access to a range of career and development opportunities available to marketing staff throughout Welsh Government.
